President Address

    All things begin again and all things are new. With the arrival of the Lunar New Year --- Year of Tiger, we, the masses of workers and staff of Shagang Group will energetically start our new journey in warm spring breeze.
    The Year 2009 which has just passed is an extraordinary year in the history of development of Shagang Group. Facing situations of severe challenges and tests that the financial crisis has not yet completely bottomed out, the prices of raw and auxiliary materials are keeping high, steel market has been ups and downs, exportation of products has seriously been impeded and so on, we have firmly fixed our purpose and fully used our comprehensive advantages of Shagang famous brand, technological talents, product structures, modern logistics etc. We have insisted on being piloted by science and technology, and have sped up structural adjustment, expanded market segment, intensified energy conservation and emission reduction, developed low carbon economy, carried out reducing cost and improving efficiency, pushed forward joint and reorganization, accelerated structural transformation and upgrading, so that our company’s production operation and project constructions have maintained a better development trend.
    In the challenging and inspiring new year, the whole company should understand the complex and changeable macro-economy situation; fully realize that the Company and our employees are the one community sharing common destiny and interests as well as bound in the same boat. Also we should further make clear our great weight of responsibilities, and whole-heartedly put ourselves into our own works in a strong sense of crisis, a sense of mission and a sense of duty.
    We must continue to highlight the main theme of scientific and innovative development. Full of working enthusiasm and in mental states to make progress, we should work seriously, do things one step ahead, think innovatively, and stay focused on “building an excellent product base, building a Hundred-year Old Factory” of long-term development strategy, accelerate the implementation of “4 Surrounding Projects”, that is “Surround its principal iron and steel business, to make Shagang excellent and strong”, “Surround the principal business, to extend the industrial chain”, “Surround the principal business, to develop modern logistics”, “Surround the principal business, to do well in the capital operation”. We shall further promote the technological progress, create the management mechanism, focus on reducing costs and saving expenses, promote efficiency upgrading, strengthen the enterprise cultural construction of Shagang characteristics, enhance Shagang Group’s capability of management, control and coordination, optimize The Group’s resources allocation so as to achieve product diversification, division of labor based on specialization, production intensification, market positioning at top end; speed up transformation and upgrading of the enterprise, comprehensively enhance the core competitiveness of the Group, and continuously bring forth the new development by blazing a new trail.
    The whole year’s work depends on a good start in spring. Tiger steps are galloping to exploit wonderful scenery. Under the leadership of higher-level Party Committee and Government, we shall work hard, and try our best to achieve our company’s goals for the Year 2010, to create excellent results, to achieve greater success and to make a tribute to the 35th anniversary of Shagang establishment.
